Authorize, settle, and manage electronic payment transactions from your retail location with counter-top terminals from IRIS. Integrate electronic payments into your point-of-sale system for streamlined operations and increased efficiency.

If you can physically swipe the card, and you’re in an office or storefront (or more than one), we offer customized retail payment solutions specific to the way that your particular organization wants to do business.

Chip Cards (EMV)

Security matters. A lot.

EMV, which stands for Europay, Mastercard, and Visa, is a technical standard for smart payment cards and the machines which accept them. Otherwise known as “chip cards,” data about the card and cardholder is stored on integrated circuits rather than on magnetic stripes (though most chip cards still have a magnetic stripe for compatibility with merchants who have not yet upgraded their terminals to be EMV-compatible).

EMV cards, or chip cards, are more secure and less open to counterfeiting than traditional magnetic-stripe cards. The biggest thing you need to know is that, along with the switch to EMV has become a liability shift – meaning that, if you DON’T take EMV cards, and you process a fraudulent transaction, you’re potentially on the hook for the fraud. That’s big.

IRIS has you covered, with EMV-compatible payment processing terminals ready to install at your business location(s).

IRIS Quick-Notes

  • If you’re switching from one retail payment system to a new system, there are some things to watch out for.
  • The biggest drawback for consumers considering mobile wallet applications is that mobile wallets aren’t accepted everywhere.
